Nurse Rotas

Betsi Cadwaladr health board has engaged expensive consultants to come up with a brainwave to save money:  Extend nurses' shifts by an extra half hour without pay.
The proposal, currently out to consultation, would mean a nurse currently working a 12 hrs 30 minute shift (with half an hour unpaid break) expected to work the same shift but only get paid for 11 hrs 30 minutes.

Currently many nurses take their breaks on their wards or unit and are effectively on call in an emergency. This is purely down to the goodwill of hard-working staff and this vindictive approach threatens to undermine nursing morale and goodwill totally.

The changes will effectively mean full-time nurses having to work an extra shift a month to make up the unpaid hours.

This was debated in Wales only as it’s a Welsh issue therefore MPs were not involved.
Let’s hope that people remember this at next year’s WAG Elections and when candidates knock on doors canvassing for votes.
Retribution will be extracted at the ballot box, please register to vote if you aren’t registered already and PLEASE vote, even if it’s for somebody you would not usually vote for.
Please don’t say “I’m not voting because it’s a waste of time”, it’s not.

Not bad when you can’t get AM’s and MP’s voting against it. They need to stop and think what a work load and what a committed NHS staff member does throughout their shift. Sometimes having to already for go their break because of a busy ward or because they are understaffed. They dont get paid for that. Now they are saying take half an hour without pay. I’m pretty dam sure the bosses of the NHS wouldn’t do it and I know our AM’s and MP’s wouldn’t do it. So why the hell do they expect nurses to just accept it. Truth of the matter is they will push and push until the NHS is privatised.

Nurses are have been short staffed for years and worked longer hours unpaid than is recognised.I dinr agree with these changes.perhaps reduce the management .That would probably save more and employ mire nurses and agency would not be required

Absolutely ridiculous! No wonder we in Wales has the WORST performing NHS in the UK. We need to follow Scotland’s example to improve.

Appalling!! You want to save money? Get rid of some managers.
Stop alienating the staff, it’s hard enough to retain people as it is and you sure as hell aren’t making BCHUB an attractive employment prospect are you by pulling stunts like this?!😡😡😡

This starts with you
